ARTIST'S STATEMENT

WHAT IF...

...stories could open doors to new worlds?  What if the stage could become a space where imagination and empathy meet, inviting everyone—performers and audience alike—to dream together?

Theatre is a shared adventure, a place where narratives carry both weight and wonder. When the curtain falls and the lights fade, I strive to leave audiences with a sense of narrative responsibility, inviting them to explore their own interpretations and contribute to the ongoing tale.

What if…?” is also a bridge. In a world that often emphasizes our differences, theatre can ask, “What if we could see through someone else’s eyes for a while?” This is why I love to break the fourth wall. It’s more than a technique; it’s a welcoming gesture. By dissolving the line between performer and spectator, we create a space for genuine connection, where all our perspectives can enrich a single, shared experience.

At the heart of my work is a fascination with the very concept of play—and I am driven by the question: what compels a child to play?  The instinctual curiosity, boundless creativity, and unfiltered expression of childhood inspire me.  Play is the purest form of “What if…?”—the instinct that turns a box into a ship or a shadow into an imaginary beast. Through abstraction and evocative storytelling, I aim to capture the joy, wonder, and emotional depth of childhood, encouraging audiences to reconnect with their own memories and dreams, blurring the lines between what is and what could be.

While I love the avant-garde, and my approach is often unconventional, it is deeply personal and rooted in tradition.  I’m inspired by folklore and customs from around the world, weaving them into a rich visual style. Theatrical forms like puppetry, mask, song and dance are not historical artifacts to me; they are a living, breathing language that has the power to unite us across generations and borders.

I value the creative journey as much as the final performance.  As a director, I cultivate an open, exploratory environment where actors and artists feel free to share ideas, make discoveries, and let the work evolve organically and collectively. This process-driven approach keeps the “What if…” alive at every stage.

Ultimately, I see theatre as a joyous celebration of life and imagination. Through my work—always a patchwork of music, movement, folk traditions, and, most importantly, the people who come together to create it—I hope to inspire others to rediscover the mystery of play, embrace the power of shared stories, and recognize the meaningful role each of us holds within the grand narrative of human experience; and, of course, to remind us that the most powerful transformations often begin with a simple, hopeful question:
